Letter to Patients – Office Visits and Coronavirus

COVID-19: Temporary Changes to Office Policy and Operations

During this unprecedented time of COVID-19 and ongoing concerns about the pandemic, the health and safety of our patients, staff, and their families is of utmost importance at Houston Family and Geriatric Medicine.

Dr. Suparna Chhibber is committed to providing safest environment to all who enter our office.

Our intent is to remain open and continue treating patients via Televisits, Monday to Friday. Starting May 5th, we will be providing some in person visits on Tuesdays and Fridays. The in person appointments will be made after triage of symptoms by our staff under the guidance of Dr. Chhibber. However, if anyone is not comfortable with keeping their scheduled appointment, we are more than happy to see you on a Televisit. We are hoping to be completely functional by mid June.

We do ask if a patient or a patient’s family member is sick or not feeling well, or have been exposed to COVID 19, to reschedule their appointment or ask for a Televisit.

For all COVID positive patients, we will continue with regular televisits to make sure you are safe

Anyone with Fever, Upper respiratory symptoms or diarrhea will only be offered Televisits.

With the current concerns surrounding COVID-19, we are taking the following steps to ensure the health and safety of our patients, their families, and our employees:

  • We are limiting interaction in our reception area. We kindly ask that when you arrive for your appointment, stay in your car and inform us of your arrival by texting. A staff member will call you on your phone and go over your symptoms, history and your medications. They will let you know when the doctor is ready to see you and you will come into the office.
  • We request everyone wear a mask for their appointment.
  • Your temperature will be taken before you enter. If you have a fever, you will be asked to go back to your car and your appointment will be converted to a televisit. If your temperature is normal, you will proceed into the office and weight yourself.
  • After this you will go straight to the room assigned and wait for your doctor to arrive. Only patients will be allowed in the office. Caregivers will be allowed on a case by case basis.
  • Each room will be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly between patients.
  • We will only be accepting credit card payments.
  • Please understand that we are unable to offer any lab services during this time due to lack of adequate PPE supplies.
  • We are also unable to accept walk-ins
  • We are also happy to accepts donations of PPE (N95/surgical masks, face shields, shoe covers, gowns and gloves)

Thank you for your patience and co-operation.

Please wash your hands, practice social distance, stay safe and see you back soon.
